Congratulations to our NAPO-GPC Conference Scholarship recipient, Jen Bowen, pictured here with last year’s winner, Annie Amoon Richard. Jen will be attending the 2014 NAPO National Annual Conference which will be held in Arizona. Thanks again to Marty Ingram of PhillyJunk.com for sponsoring this year’s NAPO-GPC scholarship!
A group of 12 NAPO-GPC members volunteered at the Cradles to Crayon’s “Giving Factory” in West Conshohocken. We used our expert organizational skills to sort clothing and other items, in order to prepare them to be distributed into “Kid Packs.” These care packages are provided to children from low-income and homeless families. It was a very cheerful environment, as we were all very connected to the mission of this exceptional non-profit organization. To donate items or volunteer at Cradles to Crayons, check out their website here: http://www.cradlestocrayons.org/philadelphia
NAPO-GPC volunteers returned this year for the WHYY National Public Radio Telethon. We had a wonderful time and filled the room with our enthusiasm while we answered calls and entered pledges from 2:30 – 8:00 pm. Thanks to WHYY, NAPO-GPC received many mentions during the rush hour drive time in PA, DE & NJ.
Once again volunteers from NAPO-GPC will be giving some lucky US Military Personnel or Veteran a free one-day one-room organizing make-over. Entry forms are available here. Contest deadline is Nov. 7th. A winner will be drawn at random and notified on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, 2013. Last year’s winner received her make-over just in time for the December holidays. In preparation for National Preparedness Month in September, members of NAPO-GPC received intensive training in emergency preparedness from Sam Levy, M.Ed, a former military intelligence officer. The two-hour workshop included simulated crisis planning and instructions for professional organizers to prepare their families and clients for an event of either natural or manmade disaster, including how to assemble an emergency kit. Click here for the press release.
NAPO-GPC members Debbie Lillard, Naomi Cook, and Dan Loya, along with NAPO member Lauren Sullivan collaborated with Cradles to Crayons to produce an instructional YouTube video for donating goods. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DXnj9g0YHg&list=HL1369137338&feature=mh_lolz
